The weak Lokpal was introduced with corrupt motive, in the process of legislation making, I suspect. One cannot believe that with so many legal minds of the UPA government  working,they could not see through  the toothless version of the Bill finally introduced.I think it was deliberate.

The drafting Committee of the Government could get the full view of the Anna Team’s draft after discussing with them but let them down after promising the inclusion of their version, by introducing a very very weak and ineffective Bill. At a later stage comes suddenly Aruna Roy’s version which attempts to fill the gaping holes, the weak version of the government’s Bill have  left.

If at a later stage the Lokpal bill is passed incorporating Aruna Roy’s suggestion ,NAC can claim credit for the same. Which means Congress , Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to benefit direcly at the future hustings. That was the game plan I suspect .

There are people out there blaming Anna’s movement as dangerous to Drmocracy and to the parliamentary process of law making. If the law  makers lack the wisdom to make a legislation to serve the urgent needs of society , the wise among  people will rise to the occasion and show them the wise path and that is surely not dangerous to rigid and adamant institutes of democracy. These movements and democratic protests will only blunt the dictatorial edges  in democratic institutions.

It is not lack of wisdom I see in the drafting Committee of the government and the introduction of a weak Lokpal Bill . I sense a political motive to strengthen the Congress party by way of a weak Bill first then a changed version of  NAC associated member. I may be wrong. But we must question the motives of the government of the day for introducing a Weak Lokpal Bill per se .
