FICCI puts the loss on account of Bharat Bandh at Rs 13000Cr, Assocham at Rs10000 Cr and CII at Rs 3000Cr to our GDP. Assuming the loss to the GDP is the highest at Rs 13000 Cr ,some back of the envelope calculations throw up some interesting amount of loss. Take the highest loss figure of Rs 13000Cr .Divide this by our Population of 100Cr for spreading thin. It boils down to Rs130 per person .Spread thin again.Divide this Rs 130 by 300 working days to recover this loss. The amount comes to 43.33 paise per day loss. Spread thin again to 8 hours working a day.You have the exact loss figure starring at you. 5 paise per person per hour loss of productivity. That’s it.

We Indians have to increase our productivity by just 5 paise per hour to recoup the loss of Rs 13000Cr. Can we do it? So go ahead ,do it. Bandhs are not costly . We may get better outcomes. Better policies for the Nation . That’s the gamble. We all take chances in life. Political parties too would like to take chances in the political economy. Don’t grouse this notional loss. Increase productivity. Ask for better policies from politicians .That’s it for the present.
